Invasive Winds
Poetry Friday

Friends,
The last week here in Ohio the wind has been fierce. We have been lucky not to have tornados, however, the force of the wind did dislodge some of the siding on the side of my house. When I lived in Kansas the wind constantly and forcefully blew across the expansive fields of golden grasses, milo plants, and wheat fields. It was mesmerizing to watch. In the Spring the grasses are set afire in a controlled burn to encourage new growth.
Lately, I have been feeling the winds of change and this is what reminded me of the invasive feeling of the winds in Kansas. Air is all around us and we are swimming in it without escape. Most times we don’t even notice it. It takes a disturbance to stir it up. When. the winds become tornadoes, it is frightening and leaves us feeling helpless. It is in these times we seek shelter, safe fortified shelter.
When winds of change rock us, let us seek safe fortified shelter in a constant. That constant is the shelter of Divine love and close friendships. We need to rely on each other to keep us steady in winds of change — especially when those winds become destructive.
peace and strength in unity,
Jace

Changing Winds
today the winds come from the north
yesterday from the south
each day can change so quickly
like the moments of our life
how we come to this place
is a mystery to each of us, all unknown
we can only walk our lives in faith
pressing thoughtfully against the wind
making our way as the brave souls
we always dream to be

by Christina Georgina Rossetti
Who has seen the wind?
Neither I nor you:
But when the leaves hang trembling,
The wind is passing through.
Who has seen the wind?
Neither you nor I:
But when the trees bow down their heads,
The wind is passing by.

Alone Lying, thinking Last night How to find my soul a home Where water is not thirsty And bread loaf is not stone I came up with one thing And I don’t believe I’m wrong That nobody, But nobody Can make it out here alone. Alone, all alone Nobody, but nobody Can make it out here alone. There are some millionaires With money they can’t use Their wives run round like banshees Their children sing the blues They’ve got expensive doctors To cure their hearts of stone. But nobody No, nobody Can make it out here alone. Alone, all alone Nobody, but nobody Can make it out here alone. Now if you listen closely I’ll tell you what I know Storm clouds are gathering The wind is gonna blow The race of man is suffering And I can hear the moan, ’Cause nobody, But nobody Can make it out here alone. Alone, all alone Nobody, but nobody Can make it out here alone. Maya Angelo From Oh Pray My Wings Are Gonna Fit Me Well By Maya Angelou. https://poets.org/poem/alone
