Coming Into the World
Poetry Friday

Friends,
Have you ever wondered what your first thought was after you were born into this world? I see pictures of babies just after being born and their expressions make me wonder “What is going through your mind?” A whole new regimen begins for your life from that moment on. This is true for the parent(s) as well. Everything becomes “real” and the fantasy of what would be, now becomes what “is”. As I sit here thinking about my own experience when I became a new parent, there was joy, hope, anxiety, and fear. Mostly all of those in the same few moments!
I believe in many respects when it comes to spirituality, we are born, as John Locke stated in the 17th century, as a “tabula rasa” or a blank slate. As individuals, we grow picking up religious or spiritual experiences that form us usually from our parents or community- for better or worse. Sometimes as we mature and have our own life experiences, we begin to question what has been taught to us. We begin to deconstruct or question our beliefs and begin to be curious about other avenues of spirituality. If you are at this point I would encourage you to stay curious. There are many ways to connect with God (or the source you name for the Divine). It might be through nature or a different look at spirituality altogether. Don’t give up. Search for what brings you life and helps you feel fulfilled. We are born into this world to be curious and to experience. I invite you to stay open and wonder.

If You Must
If you must,
deconstruct.
Take every part;
weigh, measure,
keep and discard
necessary things.
Take all the time
you need. But
do not camp
in the ruins.
Discuss discoveries
but
do not raise monuments
to your brilliance –
brave as you may be.
Instead,
in time.
build something new.
Take the remains,
sorrows and pains,
new friends you’ve gained
and build something new;
allowing
the wise few
to remind you
there is a time
to break down
and a time
to build up.
“If you must”

The structures crumble, but within the rubble, a new compass forms, guiding me toward self-discovery and understanding. A few short poems: The Empty Throne Empty throne, where faith once sat, Now whispers rise, a gentle chat. New truths bloom, a vibrant hue, Self-discovery, me and you. The Unfolding Map Old maps are burned, a fresh start. My spirit leaps, a brand new art. No longer bound, I choose my way, A vibrant path, come what may. The Whispering Wind The wind now sings a different song, No longer bound where I belong. It whispers, "You are free to be, A masterpiece, eternally." Generative AI is experimental. - trying a new thing with AI and actually it's pretty good. What do you think?
“Deconstruction is great for the intellect, but it hurts the heart terribly.” — Eric Maisel

Jace, you created those short poems with AI? I like them. I also like the final quote.
